Derek Jeter #3,000th Career Hit 7/9/2011

Over the weekend Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter reached his 3000th career hit with a home run in the bottom of the third inning, his third homer of the year. Jeter is the first Yankee to accomplish the feat and the sixth-youngest to get there, he's the 11th player to have this many hits on one team. Overall he became the 28th player in major league history to reach the elite club of 3,000 hits and is the second to do it in style with a homer behind Wade Boggs. Jeter finished the game going 5 for 5 including the game winning hit to send the Yankees to victory.
